15 GID officers complete six-week advanced IT training

The Gambia Immigration Department (GID), in collaboration with Securiport, on Tuesday concluded a six-week Advanced Information Technology and Capacity Building Training at the Banjul International Airport, graduating 15 officers. The program was facilitated by the Quest Institute of Technology (QIT).

The closing ceremony was presided over by the Assistant Director General of Policy and Planning, Louis Mendy. He was joined by the Commissioner of Banjul International Airport, Mariama Nyang; the General Manager of Securiport Gambia, Fatim Badjie, and senior security officers.

Deputy Commissioner Abdou Cham commended Securiport for sponsoring the training and QIT for its facilitation. He urged the graduates to apply the knowledge acquired, noting that Data Management and System Administration are vital for frontline operations and effective service delivery.

Securiport’s General Manager Fatim Badjie reaffirmed her institution’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with stakeholders. She expressed optimism that the training would enhance GID’s workforce, equipping officers with the technical skills and professionalism needed for national service.

In his remarks, policy and planning ADG Mendy thanked Securiport, emphasising that capacity building remains central to GID’s Strategic Plan. He encouraged the officers to stay committed, reminding them to “be the example others would follow” as they lead with integrity.

The GID remains committed to enhancing the skills and capacity of its staff in line with its Strategic Plan and the Security Sector Reform Assessment Report.
