The Gambia Tourism Board (GTBoard) wishes to inform the general public that it has received credible reports of individuals, groups, and certain real estate companies unlawfully advertising and selling land within the Tourism Development Area (TDA) without the authorization of the Board.
The Tourism Development Area stretches from Kotu to Kartong and extends approximately 800 meters inland from the high-water mark of the Atlantic Ocean. This land was leased to the Government of The Gambia by the Chiefs of Kombo South and Kombo North and has been officially designated exclusively for tourism-related development.
In accordance with the Gambia Tourism Board Act, 2011, the TDA is strictly reserved for tourism development purposes. The Government of The Gambia has mandated the Gambia Tourism Board to manage, regulate, and allocate land within this area solely for approved tourism investment projects.
The general public, investors, and prospective land buyers are therefore strongly advised to exercise due diligence and verify all land transactions within the TDA through the appropriate government authorities before making any form of payment or commitment.
Any individual or entity found engaging in the illegal sale, allocation, or transfer of land within the TDA will be subject to legal action in accordance with the laws of The Gambia.
Members of the public who have information regarding such unlawful activities are encouraged to report the matter to the relevant authorities.
The Gambia Tourism Board remains fully committed to protecting the integrity of the Tourism Development Area, ensuring transparent and lawful land administration, and safeguarding the rights and interests of legitimate tourism investors.
