The Electoral Commission has announced an extension of the deadline for receiving appeals and objections to the provisional voters’ list from the 2026 supplementary voter registration exercise.
In a statement signed by Chairman Joseph Colley, the Commission confirmed that the new deadline is Monday, 27 July 2026, in accordance with Section 22(5) of the Elections Act 2025. The extension provides additional time for citizens and stakeholders to review the provisional register and ensure its accuracy.
Following the close of the appeals period, revising courts will be established to hear and determine all cases. The Commission also pledged to publish the names of individuals filing appeals or objections, as well as those facing objections, at its offices nationwide.
Reassuring the public of its commitment to transparency, the Commission emphasized that the measure is aimed at strengthening the integrity and credibility of the electoral process. Eligible voters and stakeholders are encouraged to take advantage of the extended window to guarantee that the final voters’ register reflects all qualified citizens.
