President Adama Barrow on Saturday, 5 September 2026, officially inaugurated three newly constructed road links under Lot 2 of the OIC 50km Urban Roads Project in Brufut, West Coast Region.
The commissioned roads—P6, P9 and P20—are funded by the Saudi Fund for Development and form part of the 50km Urban Roads Project. The roads were constructed by the joint venture of Pavi-Ford, Gambisara and Huta, with supervision provided by PACE and GAMECS.
The three-road links feature asphalt-paved carriageways, drainage systems, sidewalks and streetlighting, infrastructure expected to improve road safety, accessibility and connectivity within the rapidly developing West Coast Region.
P6, measuring 8.6 kilometres, connects Kololi Tavern through Bijilo to Brufut. P9, spanning 8.35 kilometres, links Sukuta, Wullingkama, Brufut and Ghana Town, while P20 covers 1.18 kilometres, connecting the Kombo Coastal Road near Zion Welding Workshop to the Wullingkama Car Park.
The completion of the roads is expected to ease traffic movement, reduce travel difficulties and provide safer and more efficient access for motorists, pedestrians and communities along the corridors.
Speaking at the inauguration, President Barrow said the completion of the urban roads project provided an opportunity to reflect on the broader direction of national development.
“As our towns and cities continue to grow, we must ensure that urban infrastructure develops alongside them. Accordingly, we must strive to create urban communities that are better connected, safer, more accessible, and capable of supporting all sorts of economic activities,” he said.
The President also encouraged the private sector, entrepreneurs and communities to take advantage of the opportunities created by improved infrastructure, stressing the importance of using such investments to support economic activity and local development.
The inauguration forms part of the government’s ongoing programme to expand and improve road infrastructure across the country, particularly in rapidly urbanising communities.
