The Managing Director of the National Roads Authority (NRA), Sulayman Sumareh Janneh, described the inauguration of the newly constructed Brufut roads as a significant milestone, noting their importance to Brufut residents and communities across the West Coast Region.
MD Sumareh Janneh was speaking during the commissioning of the three OIC Road Links in the West Coast Region, on Saturday 5 September 2026.
The commissioned roads—P6, P9 and P20—are funded by the Saudi Fund for Development and form part of Lot 2 of the project. They were constructed by the joint venture of Pavi-Ford, Gambisara and Huta, under the supervision of Pace & Gamecs.
The 8.6-kilometre P6 connects Kololi Tavern through Bijilo to Brufut, while the 8.35-kilometre P9 links Sukuta, Wullingkama, Brufut and Ghana Town. The 1.18-kilometre P20 connects the Kombo Coastal Road, around Zion Welding Workshop, to the Wullingkama Car Park.
According to the NRA Managing Director, the inauguration marks the completion and commissioning of the 27.8-kilometre road network under Lot 2 of the OIC 50km Urban Roads Project.
He commended the contractors, Pavi-Ford and its partners, as well as the consultants, for their efforts in successfully delivering the donor-funded road infrastructure project.
Janneh also expressed appreciation to President Adama Barrow for his foresight and commitment to improving road infrastructure, particularly in Brufut and other rapidly developing communities in the West Coast Region.
Meanwhile, the OIC 50km Urban Roads Project Lot 2 roads, equipped with asphalt-paved carriageways, drainage systems, sidewalks and streetlighting, are expected to enhance road safety, accessibility and connectivity for communities across the rapidly developing West Coast Region.
