The Preparatory Ministerial Meeting for the Joint Arab-Islamic Emergency Summit was held recently in Doha under the chairmanship of H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, to address the ongoing Israeli attack on the State of Qatar.
The emergency gathering comes as a clear affirmation of Arab and Islamic solidarity with Qatar, aiming to crystallize a unified stance in the face of what leaders described as a dangerous escalation threatening the security and stability of the region.
The meeting brought together the foreign ministers of Arab and Islamic states, alongside the Secretaries-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the League of Arab States.
OIC Secretary-General H.E. Hissein Brahim Taha condemned the “blatant Israeli aggression against the sovereignty of Qatar”, stressing that it represents an expansion of Israel’s war, a threat to regional stability, and a violation of international law. He called for intensified efforts to hold Israel accountable for its actions, including violations of Qatari sovereignty, continued settlement expansion, and what he described as “organized terrorism” against the Palestinian people.
He further emphasised the importance of implementing relevant United Nations Security Council and General Assembly resolutions to end Israeli aggression and occupation, and to advance the two-state solution.
Commending the leadership of H.H. Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, who chairs the Joint Arab-Islamic Ministerial Committee, Taha praised ongoing efforts to mobilize international responsibility to compel Israel to comply with international law.
Sunday’s preparatory discussions are focused on finalizing a draft resolution that will be presented for adoption at the Joint Arab-Islamic Emergency Summit scheduled to take place in Doha.
Reaffirming its collective stance, the OIC pledged to continue working in joint Arab-Islamic coordination to confront Israeli aggression and safeguard regional security and stability.
