BAC to disburse D28M to 28 wards in WCR

The Brikama Area Council (BAC) is set to disburse D28 million in ward development funds to 28 wards in the West Coast Region on February 26, 2026.

Each ward will receive D1 million for local development projects, bringing the total amount disbursed over three years to D70 million.

The chairman of Brikama Area Council (BAC), Yankuba Darboe, said the initiative aims to promote community-driven development and strengthen grassroots governance. The funds will be used to implement priority projects identified by the communities, ensuring visible development in every area.

The BAC chairman emphasises accountability, ensuring that all funds are properly managed and the projects benefit the people.

He said the disbursements are made possible through taxpayer support and the integrity of those collecting and managing the funds.

According to him, BAC has already seen significant progress, including the construction of 22 boreholes, eight market sheds, and the connection of three communities to the national electricity grid.

He added that this initiative is expected to bring lasting improvements to communities across the region.
