Journalists from across the globe are currently undergoing a two-week seminar on new media platforms operations and management in Beijing, China.
The seminar, which started from 17 October, is expected to end on 30 October 2025.
Organised by the Research Training Institute in collaboration with the National Radio and Television Administration (NRTA) of China, the seminar drew media professionals from various countries, including The Gambia, Nigeria, Barbados, Panama, Jordan, Botswana, and Turkey.
The National Radio and Television Administration (NRTA) is a ministerial-level government department directly under the State Council of the People’s Republic of China. It is responsible for the administration and supervision of radio, television and online audio-video service in China.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Chang Jin, Second Grade Counsel at the International Cooperation Department of the NRTA, gave an overview of Chinese culture and traditions.
He stated: “An ideal society: everything under heaven is for everybody. Governance theory: The people are the foundation of the state. Traditional unity: All lands be connected together…and be unified as one.”
Talking about emotions on responsibility of family and country, he said: “Train yourself, maintain the family, govern the family and bring peace to all under heaven.”
On economic ethics, he said the goal is to enrich the people and strengthen livelihoods, balance righteousness and benefit.
He advanced that new media plays a crucial role in shaping popular views.
In the course of the two-week program, participants would go through various topics and skills, including international communication and public diplomacy, and trends of new media platforms.
The seminar also includes Content Development and IP Creation on New Media Platforms, the Metaverse and the Future of Media, New Media Environment, and a visit to Juyongguan Great Wall among others.
