Bell Bottling Company has presented a Certificate of Recognition to Hon. Baboucarr O. Joof, the Minister of Trade, Industry, Regional Integration, and Employment (MOTIE).
The presentation ceremony was held on Tuesday at the Ministry’s office in Banjul.
As a proud Gambian beverage producer, Bell Bottling Company is committed to crafting locally inspired and globally appealing drinks, including The Gambia’s first-ever canned soft drinks, based in Bonto village, Kombo East District. The event highlights their strides in the nation’s industrialisation journey.
In his acceptance speech, Minister Joof celebrated the milestone visit, referencing President Adama Barrow’s recent tour of the bottling company. “We have eagerly anticipated this day,” he said, marking it as a significant acknowledgment of The Gambia’s progress.
This pivotal moment opens exciting opportunities for exporting Gambian products to broader markets, he said.
Minister Joof further encouraged the company’s management to explore the production of local juices, such as baobab, and produce them in convenient cans.
He emphasised the importance of collaboration with the Ministry of Trade and the Ministry of Agriculture to drive innovation in the country’s beverage industry.
On behalf of the company’s dedicated team, Borry Darboe shared heartfelt gratitude for the ministry’s unwavering support for industrial growth, job creation, and economic stability in The Gambia.
He proudly announced: “Today, we are thrilled to present this Certificate of Recognition to you for your instrumental role in establishing a robust beverage industry in The Gambia. For the first time ever, we are proud to produce canned drinks locally,” he said.
He thanked Hon. Joof, and the Ministry for their remarkable support and achievements in shaping the future of The Gambia’s beverage industry.
