His Excellency Mohammed B.S. Jallow, Vice President of the Republic of The Gambia, on Friday, September 19, 2025 officially inaugurated the new Board of Directors of the Banjul International Convention Centre Limited (BICC) marking the transformation of the former OIC Secretariat into a limited liability company.
This historic transition ensures that the state-of-the-art Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara International Conference Centre and other key OIC legacy assets will be sustainably managed for the benefit of our nation.
Vice President Jallow praised the success of hosting the 15th OIC Summit in May 2024 and thanked the outgoing OIC Board for their dedicated service.
The new BICC Board, chaired by Mawdo Juwara with Yusupha Alieu Kah as Vice-Chairman, is tasked with ensuring operational efficiency, financial sustainability, and positioning The Gambia as a premier global destination for high-profile conferences and events.
Dr. Ismaila Ceesay, Minister of Information, Media and Broadcasting Services, described this as “another important milestone in the transformation of this country” — one that aligns with the vision to make The Gambia a true conference hub of Africa and beyond.
He said with this new beginning, the BICC stands ready to boost tourism, grow the economy, and shine a brighter spotlight on The Gambia internationally.
