A delegation of three from the University of The Gambia Students Union has attended the 6th Post-War Leadership of the Liberian National Students Union (LINSU) on Friday.
The delegates include the UTGSU president Nyaninka Manjang, vice president Yunusa Mbye and the secretary general.
While the ceremony underscored a pivotal epoch in the student leadership of Liberia, the participation of the UTGSU through its three most key officials shows the UTGSU’s commitment to fostering stronger partnerships with students unions across the sub-region and Africa.
This drive promises better student leadership in the continent which champions the welfare of students uniformly across the region and puts pressure on governments to enhance the higher education infrastructure and quality.
The newly inaugurated LINSU leaders warmly welcomed the Gambian delegation, expressing their interest in a firm partnership for mutual growth and reinforcing the importance of cross-border students engagement.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation and, by extension, the UTG students back home, president Nyaninka Manjang hailed the LINSU leadership.
He conveyed UTGSU’s readiness to establish, build and sustain enduring and impacful partnership with the LINSU.
As the engagement continued, on Saturday, 1 February 2025, the delegation had a fruitful convergence witnessed by Alieu Varney Jarsey, president of the All-Africa Students Union (AASU), and other LINSU and Students Unification Party (SUP) leaders.
Deliberations centred around collaborative regional opportunities for the development of students within the continent.
President Jarsey conveyed admiration for Gambian students and pledged his commitment to supporting the effort of revitalizing a robust, responsive and inclusive student movement that serves all students within Gambian jurisdiction.
