Gambia, Tajikistan boost ties as VP Jallow meets President Rahmon

In a key diplomatic move to strengthen bilateral relations, Gambia’s Vice President Mohammed B.S. Jallow met with Tajikistan’s President Emomali Rahmon on Wednesday, 28 May in Dushanbe.

The high-level talks, held at the State House, focused on expanding cooperation in trade, capacity building, and multilateral diplomacy. VP Jallow delivered greetings from President Adama Barrow and thanked the Tajik government for its warm hospitality.

Speaking to the media, VP Jallow emphasised the importance of collaboration among smaller nations, especially within international bodies like the OIC and the UN General Assembly.

“As small nations in a divided world, we must continue to support each other,” he said, noting proposals for trade partnerships, joint capacity-building programs, and a bilateral commission.

The leaders also discussed global concerns, including conflicts in Ukraine and Palestine, underscoring shared priorities for peace and stability.

The meeting marks a significant step forward in Gambia-Tajikistan relations, with both sides expressing hope for stronger cooperation ahead.
