GID certifies 1st cohort of In-Service Refresher Training

The  Assistant Director General (ADG) of Administration, Olimatou Jammeh, and other Senior Immigration Officers presided over the closing ceremony of a five-day In-Service Refresher Training Course held at the Gambia Immigration Department Training School (GIDTS) in Tanji. 

The occasion recognised the accomplishments of twenty-five immigration officers who have undergone intensive training on Immigration Legislations and Policies, Border Patrol, Irregular Migration, Deportation and Removal Procedures, Crisis Response and Management, and Ethics and Document Security. 

Presiding over the ceremony, ADG Jammeh commended the officers for their commitment to the course. She expressed optimism that the insights and knowledge gained would be instrumental in enhancing the efficiency and professionalism of immigration officers. 

She reiterated the GID’s resolve in streamlining reform strategies, developing the capacity of its staff and improving its services. 

SICO Sulayman Trawally, speaking on behalf of the participants, expressed gratitude to the GID leadership, echoing the impact and knowledge gained from the course. 

Commissioner Famara Fadera, Officer-in-Charge of the GIDTS, highlighted the ongoing efforts of the GIDTS in embracing capacity development, supporting knowledge-transfer and fostering skills development relevant to the implementation of immigration mandate. 

The graduation of participants of the 1st cohort of the In-Service Refresher Training Course symbolizes the power of learning, skills transfer and professionalism in migration and border management.
