The Gambia National Olympics Committee (GNOC) has on Sunday rallied its member associations, partners, stakeholders, and staff for its Annual General Meeting, where they discussed key developments and matters over the last twelve months.
The year 2025 has, so far, been a year, like all other years, marked by both successes and challenges for the body. The AGM provided the opportunity, once more, to recognise achievements and chart a path towards addressing persistent and emerging challenges confronting the GNOC.
Attended by key personalities in the body and renowned Gambian sports administrators, such as Mahmud Lamin Jawla, executive director of the National Sports Council; Alagie Garbi Joof, honorary president of the GNOC; and Abdoulie Bax Touray, economist and eminent sports administrator.
In his speech and presentation of his report, President Bai Dodou Jallow described the gathering as an important one where they can take the opportunity to discuss GNOC matters and build capacity, particularly as it relates to 2025. It was also a moment to propose additions and subtraction as well, Mr Jallow said.
Honorary president Alagie G. Joof and Mahmud Lamin Jawla also spoke along the same lines in their brief speeches, describing the convergence as an important one necessary to move forward as a body.
Subsequently, there were presentations by Secretary General Yorro Njie on the activities of the executive board and Treasurer Bai Madi Ceesay on the audited accounts for 2024.

The various reports were discussed and adopted. The participants held an overview of the achievements of the GNOC from 2025 January to December, eventually proceeding for the consideration and approvals of the 2026 budget.
Mr Abdoulie Bax Touray made a presentation on governance and management of national federations to expose the gathering, especially those from sports associations and federations, to effective governance models and administrative techniques in sports management.
