Mahmud Lamin Jawla, the Executive Director of the National Sports Council (NSC), has said that the government is committed to strengthening sports in the country.
Mr. Jawla highlighted that the government aims to achieve this by establishing the necessary tangible infrastructure, where young athletes can practice, perform, and refine their skills and talents.
Mr. Jawla made this disclosure during an interview at the Seaview Gardens Hotel in Kolloli.
He held that the talent is present and only needs honing, and that it’s imperative to have the infrastructure to ensure that.
“If we want to go higher, we must have the right infrastructure, so that these young people, both in handball and any other sport, will be able to focus their talents and train in better environments,” he said.
The NSC executive boss said that is why some multipurpose complexes are being built in some areas.
He observed that the tangible infrastructure required would continue to be built “because that is the focus of the Government of The Gambia through the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MoYS).”
