The Gambia Police Force Community Policing Unit, supported by GIZ, has hosted a one-day workshop at the NaNA Conference Hall in Bakau to develop a new Community Policing Strategy for 2025–2029.
The workshop, held on January 23 and attended by police commissioners and regional commanders, was opened by Commissioner Lamin Jaiteh, who highlighted the need for a revised strategy following the conclusion of the 2019–2023 plan.
Retired Commissioner Babucarr Sowe facilitated discussions alongside Commissioner Jaiteh, Dr Marion from GIZ, and social worker Haddijatou Sarr.
Participants engaged in group discussions and a Q&A session, addressing challenges and exploring opportunities to enhance community policing efforts. The GPF says the police remain committed to strengthening public safety through effective community engagement and collaboration.
