The Gambia Police Force, in collaboration with Interpol, on September 4, 2025, commenced a two-day training at the GPFCC Hall in Kanifing.
The training brought together officers from the Gambia Police Force, the Gambia Immigration Department, the Gambia Revenue Authority, and the Gambia Armed Forces, as part of ongoing efforts under Operation Screen West Africa 2025.
Speaking at the opening ceremony on behalf of the Inspector General of Police and the Head of the National Central Bureau, DSP James P. Mendy welcomed participants and urged them to take the training seriously, emphasising that the skills and knowledge gained would enhance their capacity to combat transnational crimes and strengthen border security.
The head of the Interpol delegation for the training, Raony Osorio, reiterated the importance of the program, saying it forms part of wider operational measures under Operation Screen West Africa aimed at building strong cross-border cooperation and effective security systems across the sub-region.
The Gambia Police Force reaffirms its commitment to working with national and international partners in safeguarding borders, preventing organised crime, and protecting the people of The Gambia.
