GRTS senior management pays courtesy call on GAF High Command

A high-powered delegation from the Gambia Radio and Television Services (GRTS) led by the Director General on Tuesday 5 August 2025, visited the Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) High Command at the Defence Headquarters in Banjul.

The purpose of the visit was to express appreciation for the fencing of the GRTS annex station in Basse, Upper River Region (URR).

During the meeting, the Director General of GRTS, Abdoulie Sey, commended the Gambia Armed Forces Engineering Corps for executing the project in a timely and cost-effective manner. He emphasised that the fencing would safeguard the complex from encroachment and unauthorised waste dumping by residents, while also enhancing the security of GRTS staff.

Director Sey noted that the land had remained unfenced since its establishment in 1973 during the First Republic. He further highlighted that the project would have cost millions of dalasis had GRTS contracted a private construction company.

In response, the Chief of Defence Staff, Lieutenant General Mamat O.A. Cham, expressed gratitude for the visit and reaffirmed GAF’s commitment to strengthening the longstanding cooperation between the two institutions.

The CDS stressed that GAF remains resolute in offering assistance to any government institution, parastatal, NGOs or private institutions within its capability.
