INTERPOL West Africa National Training underway in Banjul

The INTERPOL Trafficking in Human Beings (THB) West Africa National Training is underway at the Police Headquarters conference hall in Banjul.

The session began with opening remarks from Chief Superintendent Sulayman Jawara, Security Officer (SO) for Interpol National Central Bureau (NCB) in Banjul, who represented both the Head of NCB Banjul and the Inspector General of Police.

He underscored the importance of the training in strengthening policing capabilities to combat human trafficking, as he commended the facilitators and encouraged participants to fully engage in the program.

Facilitators, Mr Patrice Kouassi from INTERPOL and Her Worship Mben Faal from the Judiciary, emphasised the relevance of the training in bolstering efforts against human trafficking.

The program featured an in-depth presentation by DSP Sulayman Gaye on “Policing Capabilities and Services,” and another edifying oneby Inspector Ebrima N. Joof, Data Protection Officer (DPO) for NCB Banjul, who elaborated on the roles and activities of NCB Banjul.

Her Worship Mben Faal further enriched the session with insights into the international and national legal frameworks for addressing human trafficking. Meanwhile, the training continues to progress successfully, with active participation from representatives of the Gambian Immigration Department, Drug Law Enforcement Agency The Gambia (DLEAG), and other law enforcement agencies.
