The director general of the National Centre for Arts and Culture (NCAC), Hassoum Ceesay, who doubles as the country’s most eminent historian, has pledged to lend a helping hand to the Education Students Association (EDUSA) of the University of The Gambia in its endeavour to realising its aims as a body.
Mr Ceesay, who is also a literary critic and author of multiple books that include biographies of Gambian figures and analyses of historical matters, received the university students at his office in Banjul.
The visit by the education students, who recognise the NCAC as a key partner, was geared towards introducing their newly elected members, renewing partnership and charting ways to further their cooperation for mutual benefits.
DG Ceesay and the NCAC staff warmly received the students, praising them for the bold move to reach out to strengthen collaborative efforts.
The eminent writer and historian also assured of his institution’s support for EDUSA-related activities, including sessions on language policy, EDUSA Week, and Cultural Day.
Mr Ceesay conveyed his desire to incorporate the Education Students Association in forthcoming activities of the NCAC.
The students expressed gratitude to DG Ceesay and the rest of the NCAC for the open-door policy, as well as for the willingness to ensure partnership.
Meanwhile, the students also visited NIRO company on Wednesday, 11 February, to establish partnership and explore opportunities for collaboration.
While they were warmly welcomed by staff of the company, the students discussed potential partnerships on three key areas: EDUSA Week, EDUSA’s Nationwide Tour, and internship opportunities for students at NIRO.
NIRO’s admin officer Fatou Lamin Faye, who also is a former minister of state, embraced the idea for collaboration, expressing support. She assured it would be discussed at the management level.
