Newly appointed Paramount ‘Seyfo’ calls for peace and stability in Gambia

Alhagi Yaya Jarjusey, the newly appointed Paramount ‘Seyfo’ of The Gambia, is calling for peace and stability in the country. As a respected traditional leader, he is known for advocating agricultural development, environmental protection, and improved local justice systems.

The Chief of Jarra West District, Lower River Region, made this call in an interview with this media at his compound in Soma recently.

His call for peace comes at a time The Gambia is working to maintain stability and address challenges like tribalism and marginalization. Initiatives like the Peace Caravan are promoting unity and inclusion across the country, bringing together elders, women, and young people to discuss peace and harmony.

Jarjusey’s leadership is seen as significant, given his past efforts to promote development and justice in Jarra West District. He’s a strong advocate for better infrastructure, and has campaigned against issues like the use of plastic bags.

Chief Jarjusey said dialogue can definitely be a more effective way to resolve conflicts and bring closure, rather than relying solely on the court system. Thus he is encouraging his fellow chiefs to prioritize community harmony.

He urged his fellow chiefs to be ambassadors of peace and stability, which is crucial for The Gambia’s development.
