OIC condemns Israeli actions in Palestine and Syria, urges global intervention

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has issued strong condemnations against recent Israeli actions in both the occupied Palestinian territories and Syria, calling them clear violations of international law and a threat to regional stability.

In a firm statement, the OIC denounced Israel’s decision to transfer the administration of the historic Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron from Palestinian authorities to the so-called “Jewish Religious Council” based in the Kiryat Arba settlement. The organization warned that this move undermines the religious, legal, and historical status of the sacred Islamic site, and contravenes international resolutions, including those passed by UNESCO.

The OIC described the move as part of wider Israeli efforts to assert sovereignty over occupied Palestinian land and alter the identity of Islamic holy sites. It reiterated that all such decisions by Israel within the occupied Palestinian territory are illegal and invalid under international law.

In a separate but equally urgent statement, the OIC General Secretariat condemned the ongoing Israeli aggression on Syrian territory. The organization described the repeated attacks as blatant interference in Syria’s internal affairs and a violation of its sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.

The OIC expressed full solidarity with the Syrian Arab Republic and its people, emphasizing the need for international action to halt Israeli military operations that risk further escalating tensions in the region.

The organization called on the United Nations, UNESCO and the international community at large to take immediate and concrete steps to uphold international law, protect religious and cultural heritage, and preserve regional peace and security.
