Baba F. Trawally, Amir of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at in The Gambia, has stated that it is the brotherhood and peaceful nature of the Gambians that make The Gambia the envy of the world.
The Amir was speaking at the 2025 Jalsa Salana, an annual event (convention) of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat which brings together members and other personalities across The Gambia and the globe.
The event was held at the weekend at the Nusrat Senior Secondary School in Bundung on the theme ‘Ahmadiyya, the Renaissance of Islam’.
The Amir affirmed that it is vital for the foundation on which the Jamaat is established to be highlighted and clearly communicated for people to understand its purpose.
“The Gambia is a land of peace, a land of harmony, a land of tranquility, where people of different faiths live side by side,” he said. “We should all be tolerant, respect each other and live in peace and harmony with our neighbours no matter their religion or faith. It is our brotherhood and our peaceful nature as a country that make us the envy of the world.
“For that reason, be it religious leaders, political leaders, the government or elders in the society, we should all always preach the message of peace and try to unify people in our congregation and should not preach or say things that will bring about division and conflict within us, or hared in our communities and society. Remember that without peace there can be no progress and without peace we cannot even worship Allah Almighty properly. For that reason, let us all be ambassadors of peace in our societies and communities. May Allah Almighty make this easy for us, Ameen!”
He urged the participants of the convention to remember their beloved, their motherland The Gambia, the entire sub-region and humanity at large, including the poor and needy, the sick and all troubled nations and countries of the world.
