Police command receives DLEAG DG

The Police Command on Thursday, 14 August 2025, received the Director General of the Drug Law Enforcement Agency, The Gambia (DLEAG), Demba Ceesay, on a courtesy call as part of his nationwide tour.

The delegation was warmly welcomed by Commissioner of Police (CP) Amie Nyassi of the Banjul Region. The purpose of the visit was to further strengthen the already existing collaboration between the Police and DLEAG.

In his remarks, Director of Border Operations, Modou Jobe, expressed gratitude to the Police Command for the warm reception. He highlighted the exceptional support his team has consistently received from sister security services, particularly the Police.

Mr Cham reiterated that the strong cooperation between the two institutions “is a clear demonstration of unity and shared commitment”.

For his part, Director General Demba Ceesay emphasised that the cordial relationship between the Police and DLEAG “will greatly enhance the fight against crime”. He noted that crime and drug-related offences are closely intertwined, thus require concerted efforts to maintain peace and tranquility.

Speaking on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, the Assistant Inspector General for Police Administration, Ebrima Bah, assured the delegation of the Police’s continued support and cooperation with DLEAG.

Despite differences in their specific mandates, both institutions share a common goal – national security, he underscored, saying this shared purpose will foster intelligence sharing for improved safety across the nation.
