The Presidential Adviser under the Barrow-led administration, Momodou Sabally, has pledged his support to the University of The Gambia Debate Association during a courtesy visit to his office.
The visit by the UTGDA delegation is part of campaigns and support-seeking initiatives to hold a fruitful Vice Chancellor’s Debate Championship for 2025.
Mr Sabally, a former top official at the Central Bank, an ex-presidential affairs minister, and an author, was visited in his capacity as a staunch supporter of youth-centric initiatives.
Discussing with the delegation, Mr Sabally underscored the essence of public speaking and healthy debate in national discourse, which UTGDA has championed over the years.
In his capacity as a member of government, he pledged his support to ensure this year’s VCNC is successfully conducted.
The delegation also paid a visit to the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (MoBSE), whose officials expressed similar statements to Mr Sabally’s, acknowledging the important role UTGDA plays.
Responsible for basic and secondary schools and the development of students under this level, the MoBSE also assured its invaluable support to ensure the VCNC, which will include high schools as contestants, succeeds.
