The Sanyang Development Fund (SDF) has organised another Annual General Meeting (AGM) that brought together natives, stakeholders, and friends of Sanyang to discuss sustainable development and chart a course for the community’s growth.
The remarkable AGM, held on Saturday in Sanyang, Kombo South, West Coast Region, discussed the theme: “Building on Trust: Laying the Foundation for the Sustainable Development of Sanyang”.
The SDF has contributed significantly to Sanyang’s development, including supporting the Sanyang Health Center and collaborating with SUKA to assist families affected by migrant losses. The organization also plans to electrify Sanyang with street lighting systems and support education and skills development for youth.
Saikou Camara, Diaspora Chairman of SDF, urges Sanyang residents to unite and drive the community’s development forward, emphasising that nobody else will do it for them. His call to action highlighted the importance of community-led initiatives and collective effort in shaping Sanyang’s future.
Ablie Sallah, Ambassador of SDF, has committed to taking the Fund (SDF) to the next level. He promised to work tirelessly to bring residents together, both locally and globally, for a better AGM next year and more development initiatives for the community.
Sarjo Fofana, Public Relations Officer (PRO) Diaspora, Pa Ceesay, Adviser, and Dr Seedy Sanyang, Adviser, emphasised that the SDF isn’t competing with the Sanyang Village Development Committee. Instead, they are focused on driving development in Sanyang, bringing projects and support to improve residents of the community.
Yankuba Ceesay, President of SDF, highlighted the organization’s impressive financial performance, with a total income of D1,934,866.70 and a positive balance of D515,132.36. The Fund’s disciplined expenditure of D1,419,734.34 has been directed towards key community needs, including healthcare, meetings, and support for vulnerable families.
Sedia Bojang, Treasurer of SDF, emphasised the importance of accountability and transparency in managing the Fund’s resources. He acknowledged the contributions of donors, volunteers, and partners, saying their trust enables SDF to maintain high standards of transparency and community-centred leadership.
He indicated that the SDF’s initiatives had made significant impact in Sanyang, including supporting the Bunkilling Mortuary, providing smartphone assistance, and offering medical fund interventions. “The organisation’s commitment to empowering the community is evident in its efforts to drive development and improve lives,” he added.
