Sprinter Gina Bass’s husband gives helping hand to GSA

Mustapha Bittaye, husband of Gambia’s top sprinter Gina Mariam Bass Bittaye, has made a donation that includes packages of water, crate of drinks and D1,000 to the Geography Students Association (GSA) during the Association’s Walk for Sponsors.

The Walk for Sponsors exercise took place yesterday in Banjul from 10 a.m. to 1 pm. Participants walked from Arch 22nd to the Albert Market to garner support and raise funds.

Approved by the police, it was spearheaded by the GSA to garner support and raise funds for its forthcoming Senegambia Research Trip, which aims to expose students to key geographical and heritage sites in The Gambia and Senegal.

An active sportsman, a former student athlete, a physical education lecturer at the Gambia College and a licensed referee, Bittaye decided to contribute his quota to the cause of GSA with such a donation highly appreciated and hailed as an invaluable gesture by the student body.

“His kindness is more than just a contribution. It is a powerful demonstration of his commitment to education, youth empowerment, and community development at large,” states a GSA post.

It adds: “By standing with GSA, he has not only eased our journey but has also reinforced the importance of giving back and supporting initiatives that shape the future. His generosity will leave a lasting impact, not just on this research trip, but on all that have been inspired by his example. The GSA thus extends its gratitude to Mr Bittaye for his support.”
