Vice President’s Office hosts law student leaders, pledges support

The Office of the Vice President of The Gambia Tuesday hosted a delegation made up of the executive members of the Law Students Association at the University of The Gambia.

The student leaders from the law faculty paid the courtesy visit in an endeavour to discuss pertinent issues strategically relevant to national development.

They were warmly received by Secretary to Cabinet and Head of the Civil Service, Mr Alieu Njie, who expressed delight in the student’s move to trigger dialogue on the relevant issues confronting the association and law students at the UTG as a whole.

The students conveyed utmost gratitude for being accorded audience, further delving into key challenges. According to them, these challenges include lack of internship opportunities and scholarships for law students at the faculty.

Moreover, they underscored much-needed support for the Law Week, which is a week for law students that feature hosts of capacity-building, seminars, fun and educational activities. The Law Week is a fundamental part of the Law Students Association’s quest to contribute towards national development.

For his part, Mr Njie stressed his resolve to ensure not only support but also the general promotion of the academic success of law students. He expressed similar words pertaining to the Law Week.

Mr Njie reiterated his support and willingness to take swift action with the relevant authorities in government to ensure the students’ concerns are appropriately addressed.

Meanwhile, the students, once more, extended words of appreciation to Mr Njie for his professionalism and dedication, as they anticipate positive outcome.
