The Vision Development Foundation, under the leadership of Momodou Turo Darboe, Friday held another occasion at Fajara to distribute sugar to communities and institutions across the country through their representatives.
The late afternoon occasion was graced by beneficiaries, some public officials and other renowned individuals.
In his brief speech Saihou Fofana, the foundation’s director of public relations, spoke about the distribution this year, underscoring that it once again furthers a tradition championed by Momodou Turo Darboe, founder and CEO, during Ramadan and Lent over the years.
Mr Fofana enumerated the communities and institutions earmarked to benefit from the distribution.
For their part, the beneficiaries extended immense thanks to Momodou Turo Darboe and his entire foundation for the gesture.
Speaking on behalf of the Tallinding community, Fatou Saho said: “The Turo Darboe foundation’s contribution has been so significant. For us, we have been receiving sugar and other kinds of support for over twenty-five years. He knows neither Christian nor Muslim. He also does not discriminate tribes or ethnicities. He always says, ‘one Gambia, one people’.”
Madam Saho opined that Turo’s initiatives are not driven by politics, adding that he has been providing support to the underprivileged since Jammeh’s time
Fajikunda representative Baba Jabbie also conveyed similar observations, calling on people to pray for Momodou Turo Darboe.
Jabbie said the prayers would definitely be answered, for “no one can pay he who gives food to those fasting to break their fast with”.
He reiterated that they couldn’t give him anything in return but to always pray for Turo, wishing him long life and good health.
Representatives from the Fajara Barracks under the Gambia Armed Forces and the Anti-Crime Unit also made statements, expressing their immense gratitude.
