GIZ police programme aids GPF with over D1.6M studio equipment

The Public Relations and Press Officer of the Gambia Police Force (GPF) has received a donation of studio equipment valued at over 1.6 million dalasis from the GIZ Police Programme.

The programme is financed by the German Federal Office and co-financed by the EU.

The donation, presented on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, is expected to enhance GPF’s media and communication capabilities. The Public Relations Office has recently benefited immensely from GIZ through capacity-building initiatives in media, crisis communication, and public relations, among others.

Speaking at the event, GPF Public Relations Officer ASP Modou Musa Sisawo expressed profound gratitude to GIZ, describing the donation as one of the most significant contributions ever received by the office.

He emphasised that the equipment would greatly improve their work, and assured of putting it into good use.

Commissioner of Police Administration, Mustapha Ndong, who represented the Inspector General of Police, also extended appreciation to GIZ for the timely support.

He commended the Public Relations Office for its role in facilitating effective internal and external communication, noting that the new equipment would further enhance their efficiency. On behalf of GIZ, Communications and Gender Advisor Teresa reaffirmed GIZ’s commitment to supporting the Gambia Police Force. She encouraged the Public Relations team to continue their “excellent work” and to maintain the donated equipment properly.
