President Adama Barrow attended today (Friday) the commissioning of the OMVG Bairo Ndam Lero-Antufa Substation in Bissau.
This project includes a 220 kV double-circuit high voltage transmission line loop and associated substations, benefiting The Gambia, Guinea-Bissau, Senegal, and Guinea Conakry.
Delivering his statement, President Barrow expressed satisfaction with the project and emphasised the significance of energy development. He assured of his continued support for the OMVG project and urged the organisation to expedite the finalization of the remaining power purchase agreements.
The OMVG energy project plays a crucial role in the socioeconomic development of member states by enhancing power generation and distribution, providing long-term economic benefits, and fostering regional cooperation.
The project aims to develop and manage the shared resources of The Gambia, Kayanga-Geba, and Koliba-Corubal rivers among its member countries.
