Minister of Interior, Abdoulie Sanyang, has expressed that African countries, through solidarity and mutual support, can build their own security.
The former Inspector General of Police and security luminary made this observation during the handing-over of military equipment to the Gambia Armed Forces by the Islamic Republic of Mauritania.
He state: “Beyond the practical values, the donation reflects a powerful message: African nations, through solidarity and mutual support, can build their own security and resilience.
“It reaffirms the conviction that we are stronger when we stand together, and that cooperation between our countries is a strategic necessity in a world where the challenges we face – whether in security, development or climate resilience – do not respect borders.”
He thus thanked the President, his government and the people of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania for not only their unwavering support but for “their vision for regional stability, and their steadfast commitment to African solidarity”.
He further said: “Mauritania has consistently demonstrated that leadership in West Africa is not only about national responsibility but also about regional responsibility.”
