ECOWAS, UEMOA, Senegal intensify preparations for ECOFEST Dakar 2025

Preparations for ECOFEST Dakar 2025 are accelerating as ECOWAS, UEMOA, and the Government of Senegal gear up for the second joint meeting of the Regional and National Organising Committees, scheduled for October 14 through 17 in Dakar.

The meeting will assess progress on festival arrangements, enhance coordination among stakeholders, and finalize technical, logistical, and communication plans. Organisers will also validate the official programme, secure sponsorships, and set up monitoring systems to ensure the festival’s success.

Scheduled for November 30 through December 7, 2025, the event will be held under the theme “Political Change and Crises in West Africa: What Can Culture Do?” It will explore how art and creativity can foster peace, social cohesion, and regional transformation.

The opening ceremony will take place at the Dakar Arena, while the Grand Théâtre Doudou Ndiaye Coumba Rose will host the closing ceremony. Throughout the week, attendees will experience a vibrant mix of live performances, exhibitions, film screenings, youth dialogues, cultural competitions, and trade fairs, showcasing the region’s rich diversity.

More than just a celebration, ECOFEST Dakar 2025 aims to serve as a platform for artists, policymakers, entrepreneurs, and citizens to engage in meaningful dialogue, thereby strengthening unity, resilience, and cultural identity across West Africa.
