The United Gambia Front (UGF) on Thursday, July 24, 2026, held a press conference at Mariama Kunda Junction to officially present its vision, direction, and policy agenda ahead of the 2026 presidential election.
Presidential candidate Hon. Bakary K. Badjie addressed party supporters, journalists, and community members, outlining the principles that will guide his campaign. He described UGF as a national-oriented movement committed to inclusivity, accountability, and development for all Gambians.
“Our country deserves a new direction,” Badjie declared. “The United Gambia Front is here to put the people first. Our politics will be about service, not self-interest. Our policies will be about solutions, not slogans.”
Badjie introduced the party’s leadership team and emphasized that UGF’s approach will be rooted in transparency, discipline, and respect for the rule of law. He criticized what he called the politics of empty promises, pledging instead to deliver tangible results.
Key priorities highlighted by the candidate include:

Badjie lamented growing public frustration with division and unfulfilled promises, pledging to listen to citizens’ concerns and deliver solutions. “This campaign will be about your concerns,” he said. “From farmers to teachers, market vendors to youth, we will build a government that works for you.”
The press conference concluded with a question-and-answer session and remarks from senior UGF executives. With the 2026 presidential election approaching, UGF announced plans to intensify nationwide engagements through a “listening tour” that will begin in rural communities and extend to urban centers.
