Apple Tree International School on Friday held this year’s graduation ceremony for its 2025 batch of students.
The event, held at the Coco Ocean Resort in Bijilo, was attended in massive numbers by students’ parents and loved ones, especially those of the graduants, partners and other school stakeholders.
The head of the high school division, Clement Ebunoha, in his opening remarks, branded the day as one of joy, reflection, and celebration of not only academic achievements but the resilience, passion, and character of the graduating class.
He added: “To our dear graduates, you have weathered challenges, embraced opportunities and grown into individuals of integrity, intellect and heart. Like the apple tree we take our name from, deep-rooted and fruit-bearing, you have shown that with the right nurturing, you are capable of reaching great heights while still grounded in your values.
“You are leaving behind the classrooms, the corridors and the familiar rhythms of school life, but you are taking with you something far greater: the friendships, the lessons, the spirit of inquiry, and the confidence to create meaningful change in the world.”
The guest speaker, Frederick T. Bowen-John, director general of the West African Insurance Institute (WAII), expressed thanks for being considered worthy of admonishing the students, expressing hope that his very few words would empower the graduants to take their destinies into their own hands and prepare for challenges ahead.
He delved into the virtues of self-discipline, hard work, industry, persistence, and self-confidence, which he said would put the students in a good position as they leave the protective walls of the school into the wide and oftentimes cruel world.
He equally spoke about attitude, saying: “Having a positive attitude will go a long way to ensuring that you are able to navigate this new path that is about to move before you.”
