The Inspector General of Police Wednesday hosted the executive members of the University of The Gambia Students’ Union for crucial discussions on partnership and collaboration on areas of mutual interest.
IGP Seedy Muctarr Touray was flanked by Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) for Administration, Ebrima Bah, and other members of the High Command at the Police Headquarters in Banjul.
Meanwhile, the students were led for the courtesy visit by Vice President Adama Ndow, who highlighted potential areas for police support and collaboration to ensure a successful Students’ Week 2026.
These areas include transportation, security and seminars or workshops on human rights, good governance and the rule of law that will require the participation of the police as stakeholders.
IGP Touray commended the resolve of the students, reaffirming the Gambia Police Force’s commitment to support initiatives promoting student safety and welfare, youth and civic engagement, responsible citizenship and national development.
While encouraging students to uphold discipline, responsibility and exemplary conduct during the mega student-led university event, he expressed his institution’s readiness to continue its longstanding partnership with UTGSU, especially on academic research and knowledge sharing.
The student leaders conveyed their sincere appreciation to the Inspector General of Police and the leadership of the Gambia Police Force for the warm reception and continued support.
