In a landmark ceremony at the Football House, Mr. Kemo Ceesay officially assumed administrative authority of the Gambia Football Federation (GFF), succeeding Lamin Kaba Bajo, who retires after 12 years of service.
The colourful handing‑over event was attended by Ceesay’s newly elected Executive Committee, members of the coaching staff, and key stakeholders. General Secretary Lamin M. Jassey, in his welcome remarks, expressed gratitude to the Electoral Committee, the media, and partners for ensuring a smooth democratic transition. He pledged the Secretariat’s continued support to the new leadership in advancing Gambian football.
Outgoing President Lamin Kaba Bajo described the day as historic, thanking stakeholders for their unwavering support throughout his tenure. He highlighted achievements such as the establishment of legal frameworks and term limits, and commended the Electoral Committee for conducting fair and transparent elections. Mr. Bajo urged the public to rally behind the new leadership, stressing that “the success of President Ceesay and his team is the success of Gambian football.”
In his acceptance speech, President Ceesay reaffirmed his commitment to football development in The Gambia. As a gesture of appreciation, he presented a certificate of merit to his predecessor, while the Secretariat also honoured Mr. Bajo for his contributions.
The ceremony concluded with the signing of official handover documents and a tour of the GFF Secretariat for the new executive, marking the beginning of a new era in Gambian football governance
