The proposed 2027 national budget provides for a 27.4% increase in the annual salary of the Chief Justice, raising it from D941,850 in the 2026 approved estimate to D1.2 million in 2027.
The proposed increase amounts to an additional D258,150 annually.
The budget also maintains the salaries of several other top-ranking public officials at their 2026 levels.
The Vice President’s annual salary remains at D3.06 million, while the Speaker of the National Assembly remains at D1.8 million. The Auditor General’s salary is also maintained at D1.26 million.
The Minority Leader’s salary remains at D1.054 million, while a single National Assembly Member will continue to receive D994,500 annually.
Ministers will retain an annual salary of D936,000, while the Chairperson of the Independent Electoral Commission remains at D780,000.
The Ombudsman’s salary remains at D563,518, while the Chairpersons of the National Human Rights Commission and Public Service Commission will continue to receive D483,000 and D370,920 respectively.
The proposed changes form part of the 2027 budget estimates currently before the National Assembly.
