The National People’s Party (NPP) has officially unveiled its new manifesto alongside a Nine-Point Plan, describing the initiative as a roadmap for The Gambia’s next phase of transformation.
Party leaders emphasised that the NPP has matured into a national movement rooted in peace, stability, development, and inclusiveness.
At the heart of the plan is a strong focus on youth empowerment. The manifesto pledges to expand opportunities in skills training, digital innovation, sport, and entrepreneurship, ensuring that young Gambians can access modern industries and sustainable jobs. Women’s advancement is also a central pillar, with commitments to increase participation in business, leadership, education, agriculture, and public service. “No country can progress if half of its population is left behind,” the party stated.
Food security remains a top priority. The NPP stressed the need to reduce reliance on imports by investing in irrigation, rice production, livestock, fisheries modernization, and agro-processing. Leaders argued that The Gambia’s fertile land and hardworking farmers can drive national self-sufficiency and lower food costs.
Infrastructure development was described as another cornerstone of the plan. Roads, electricity, water systems, internet connectivity, ports, and transport networks were highlighted as the backbone of the economy, with promises to continue expanding these systems. The manifesto also reaffirmed commitments to strengthening healthcare and education, alongside broader welfare and development services.
According to the NPP, the Nine-Point Plan reflects a vision of a stronger, more modern, and more prosperous Gambia one that prioritizes inclusiveness and sustainable growth.
