His Excellency President Adama Barrow has approved the construction of a new road network linking Faraba and neighbouring communities within the Kombo East district, West Coast Region.
The President made this announcement today (Wednesday) while receiving a delegation from Faraba who came to show appreciation for the unprecedented developments his government has delivered in their area. They include the main campus of the University of The Gambia, electrification, tractors, fertilizers and scholarships for Faraba students.
In addition to the “Narang” road under construction, the new road will ease the mobility of women farmers to the markets, increase school access for children and open the Faraba rice fields for development.
President Barrow told the delegates that he is man of his words and affirmed that “the various infrastructural developments across the country since 2017 are a testament of my resolve to continue improving the lives and livelihoods of citizens.” He assured them of more inclusive developments beyond 2026 as he called for a peaceful election year.
On the current power supply situation, the President explained the regional context of the West African Power Pool through which neighbouring countries are facing similar challenges that require patience and dedicated collaboration.
The speakers including the Chief of Kombo East Babukarr Sanyang, Essa Dampha, Pa Kalipha Sanyang, Pa Jung Conteh, Sambou Daffeh, Kemo Jatta and Mariama Jarju, all assured the President of their loyalty and support. They felt specially honoured that President Barrow took time out of his official annual leave to grant them an audience.
