The Technical Advisory Committee (TAC), under the office of the Upper River Region Governor and with support from ActionAid International The Gambia, has convened a community interface in the Upper River Region.
The dialogue brought together local authorities, civil society actors, and development partners to strengthen collaboration and advance participatory governance.
Speaking at the gathering, Aboubacarr M. Danjo, Vice Chairman of the Basse Area Council, encouraged participants to embrace constructive criticism. He stressed that citizen feedback is essential in shaping policies and ensuring accountability at the local government level.
Saiba T. Susso, Manager of Local Rice Project 8 at ActionAid International The Gambia, reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to complementing government efforts.
He highlighted the role of agricultural initiatives in boosting food security and empowering rural communities.
Governor Samba Bah underscored the importance of such engagements, noting that they provide a platform for community members to voice concerns and contribute to regional development strategies.
The initiative reflects a growing emphasis on participatory governance in The Gambia, where collaboration between government institutions, NGOs, and local communities is increasingly recognised as key to sustainable progress.
