Essa Mbye Faal, international lawyer, politician and party leader of the All-People’s Party (APP) Sobeeya, has expressed his commitment to empower young people, especially through education and dialogue.

The Lead Counsel of the Defunct Truth, Reconciliation and Reparations Commission (TRRC) conveyed this commitment during a courtesy visit by the University of The Gambia Debate Association (UTGDA) as part of broader efforts to strengthen strategic partnerships and advance the Association’s mission.

During the meeting, the executive members of the UTGDA took the opportunity to present the Association’s achievements, as well as ongoing and future initiatives.

The Association’s National Human Rights Debate Championship, human rights, transitional justice, civic engagement, leadership and youth development featured prominently with great emphasis, as the Association recognised Faal’s massive international exposure and substantial global experience in law, transitional justice and human rights.

The APP-Sobeyaa leader iterated his appreciation for the work of the Association, stressing opportunities for collaboration on programmes that align with his expertise and his commitment to empower young people through education and dialogue.

The meeting ended with a shared commitment to foster a productive partnership in support of initiatives that promote leadership, human rights awareness and civic education.
