Residents of Banni, Salikene, Njaba Kunda, and surrounding communities in the North Bank Region are poised to benefit from improved connectivity as the 16.14‑kilometre Banni–Salikene–Njaba Kunda Road Project reaches substantial completion and prepares for official inauguration.
Fully funded by the Government of The Gambia, the project has been executed by Bajam Construction Limited under the supervision of the National Roads Authority (NRA). The new road marks another milestone in the government’s commitment to expanding the national road network and improving access to rural communities.
Officials say the project will enhance the movement of people, goods, and services while creating greater opportunities for trade, agriculture, education, and healthcare. By providing a reliable all‑weather road, it is expected to contribute significantly to the socio‑economic development of the beneficiary communities and the wider North Bank Region.
With asphalt pavement successfully completed along the entire stretch, the contractor is now finalizing installation of road signs, pavement markings, and other safety features ahead of the inauguration ceremony.
The completion of the Banni–Salikene–Njaba Kunda Road underscores the government’s continued investment in modern infrastructure aimed at fostering inclusive development, improving mobility, and enhancing the quality of life for Gambians across the country.
