Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly and National People’s Party (NPP) Deputy Spokesperson, Seedy Njie, has declared “it’s game over” following the Gambia Democratic Congress (GDC)’s formal decision to join President Adama Barrow’s NPP ahead of the December 5 presidential election.
Njie described the alliance as a historic moment, noting that President Barrow will officially welcome GDC leader Mama Kandeh and his supporters into the ruling party.
The development comes in the wake of the collapse of the Coalition 2026 talks, which saw the United Democratic Party (UDP) withdraw from negotiations while maintaining openness to other opposition alliances.
The NPP believes the addition of Kandeh and the GDC significantly strengthens President Barrow’s re-election bid, reshaping the political landscape as the country heads toward the polls.
