President Adama Barrow has urged supporters of the ruling National People’s Party (NPP) to purchase and wear the party’s Ashobee on Nomination Day, saying he wants the show of support to be so overwhelming that the election outcome would appear settled before polling day.
Speaking at the Team First Lady rally in Jambur over the weekend, President Barrow encouraged party supporters to buy the NPP Ashobee, which he said costs D350.
“To my NPP supporters, I urge you all to start buying the NPP Ashobee, prepare yourselves and wear it on the nomination day. It cost only D350. I want the election to be decided on that nomination day, so that even the opposition themselves will concede defeat before election day. Our piece cost D350, while some of them are selling theirs at D1,000. So, I urge you all to buy it and wait for the nomination day to decide the election,” Barrow said.
The rally drew senior government officials, NPP executives, Team First Lady members and party supporters.
President Barrow also expressed confidence in his party’s prospects in the forthcoming presidential election, stating that the opposition lacks the capacity to match his administration’s record in office. He further argued that the Team First Lady movement would attract greater support than some of the country’s smaller political parties.
“Even I, as President, don’t know most of these small parties. All of them are position seekers, and it would be an eternal mistake to vote for them, as they’re only looking for the presidency,” he said.
The President also reiterated his commitment to leaving what he described as a lasting development legacy through his administration.
“I want my good work to be remembered even 100 years after leaving office. I want to leave that legacy. That’s better for me, you, the country and the citizenry. Everything will come to an end, but the good work will never come to an end,” Barrow added.
The remarks come as political parties continue preparations for the 2026 presidential election, with nomination activities expected to mark the formal commencement of the electoral contest.
