The Gambia Men’s National Team Head Coach Jonathan McKinstry has unveiled his 25-man squad for the upcoming 2027 TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. The announcement was made at the Gambia Football Federation (GFF) Secretariat in Kanifing, following his first press conference ahead of the Scorpions’ long-awaited homecoming.
The team will host Somalia at Bakau’s Independence Stadium on September 25, before traveling to Accra to face the Black Stars of Ghana on September 29. These fixtures mark the Scorpions’ return to home soil after five years of playing away.
McKinstry’s selection blends experience with youthful promise. AFCON 2021 hero Baboucarr Gaye and reliable shot-stopper Ebrima Jarju headline the goalkeeping department. Veteran captain Omar Colley anchors the defense alongside rising star Alagie Saine, with Ibou Touray making a welcome return at full-back.
In midfield, Ebrima Adams and Abubakrr Barry provide stability and creativity, while the attack features returning talents Ebrima Colley and Mohammed Badamosi, joined by exciting prospect Adama Bojang.
