UNICEF country rep receives UTG’s child rights ambassadors

Ms. Nafisa Binte Shafique, the country representative of the United Nations Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF), and her team recently received the University of The Gambia’s child rights ambassadors at the UN House.

The special visit provided these students from the University of the Gambia, who are advancing child rights at campuses and across their communities, an important platform to raise key challenges confronting children across the country, which hinder their safety, inclusion and development.

Their discussion also emphasised the importance of strengthening child rights advocacy efforts and also ensuring that children’s voices are meaningfully included in conversations and decisions, especially those having a direct impact on their lives.

The young ambassadors also conveyed their commitment once again to support UNICEF’s mandate and further child protection and welfare in The Gambia.
